Dr Una MacFadyen – Lead Clinician

Una MacFadyen

Una MacFadyen is a retired consultant general paediatrician with a special interest in respiratory and neonatal paediatrics.

She previously worked in Toronto, Oxford, Bristol and Edinburgh where she researched infant sleep respiratory patterns and later in Leicester where she set up the chronic respiratory follow-up service for infants discharged home with long-term oxygen after neonatal intensive care and helped establish joint care of post-surgical neonates and the first neonatal ECMO trial in the UK. She covered acute and chronic neonatal and respiratory duties in Forth Valley linking with their respective MCNs, chaired the Long Term Oxygen sub-group of the WoSCOR MCN and the paediatric section of the Forth Valley Respiratory MCN.

Una has a long standing interest in children’s rights and has worked with Children’s Health Scotland, SOFT UK and Contact on projects involving children and parents as partners in care.  Currently she is researching guidelines for the care of Late Preterm Infants and review of long term outcomes.

Shelley Heatlie – Programme Manager

Shelley Heatlie

Shelley is the Programme Manager for CEN, she started with the network in August 2019 as an Assistant Programme Manager and has previously been a Programme Support Officer (PSO) within the National Managed Diagnostic Networks.

In her role she will support the Lead Clinician with driving key national commissioned areas of work aligned to the networks work plan and manage the core principles, which underpin the network.

She has an honours degree in Management and has many years’ experience working in the public sector having previously worked in education services for children with additional support needs. She is passionate about quality improvement and managing change and hopes that she can use these skills to drive the CEN network forwards.
